Project 1C
Architecture for place-making
Urban Heritage Gallery - PUDU
The objective of this project is to develop an architectural narrative for placemaking in the city, as well as to conduct an integrated design.Architectural design strategy should be refined a) through form, activity, and circulation, and b) through technical and service integration via concepts and components. The proposed building should be at least 1200 m2 and no more than 1300 m2, with 3-5 stories within the provided block borders. Aside from developing a narrative on architectural strategy in response to relevant questions about the community and its context, the design should consider a holistic application of structural, spatial, technical, environmental, service, and legislative requirements to address the user needs for an urban Heritage Gallery. This will include a focus on tropical design, lighting as well as the design of the façade and building envelope that is of a coherent language to the overall design scheme. The design outcome has to exhibit strong integration in construction and theory, within the Studio, whilst concurrently integrating with Modules on Building Services and Green Strategies for Building Design through concepts and components.

Reflection
This is my very first attempt at Urban Studio. It was fairly tough during the semester as this semester was also occupied with other heavy courses. It was critical to have time management skills. As for the studio, it is located in Pudu, which I believe I have been more than three times this semester and even stayed overnight at the location for my own observation and experience, or to enjoy life in Pudu. The process and development are difficult, especially during the design thinking stage, which left me fatigued at first. Every feedback I've gotten has been reasonable, and it has undoubtedly resulted in significant improvements for me and more opportunities for development. Overall, it was an interesting work, even though I experienced depression and anxiety along the process, but I was able to control it and persevere until the end. This semester 5 is the most tough so far, and I hope to persevere until the end of it. Thank you to everyone who has supported and comforted me.
